Manufactured Homes Have Unique Heating System Requirements

WIlburrr, Polar Bear Mascot - Alaskan AC

We learned last week from a local media article that the Phoenix area has more manufactured homes than anywhere else in the country. But, did you know that mobile/manufactured homes have requirements for heating systems that traditional homes do not? It’s true and it’s really important that mobile home owners know this!

Mobile home furnaces are different because they’re specifically designed for compact spaces and unique ductwork, often containing sealed combustion, smaller spaces, higher static pressure, and specialized venting for safety and efficiency in manufactured homes. Standard furnaces are larger and are installed differently, making them unsuitable and hazardous in mobile homes. Installation of mobile home furnaces require specific connections and professional setup to meet safety codes.

Why This Matters:

  • Safety: Using a standard furnace in a mobile home can be a fire hazard due to improper ventilation and heat.
  • Efficiency: Mobile home units are engineered to heat the home effectively despite limited space and insulation.
  • Compatibility: They connect seamlessly with the specific duct flanges and systems in manufactured homes.

If you own a mobile home and need a new furnace, let our knowledgeable HVAC team specify a heating system that meets the specific codes required for use in your home.
