HOLIDAY DECORATING DON’Ts

WIlburrr, Polar Bear Mascot - Alaskan AC

We love to decorate for the holidays! Most products are made to be safe when used or installed properly. Here are some holiday tips to keep you and your family safe:

o DON’T cover registers with your tree or decor, obstructing the registers. This will affect the indoor temperature and make the heater have to work harder, possibly causing issues with your heater

o DON’T leave a space heater on or unattended when you are out of the home and not hanging out in a room. And DON’T place a space heater anywhere near your Christmas tree.

o DON’T leave your Christmas tree or outdoor lights on when sleeping. Bedtime means lights off! Don’t forget to turn your Christmas tree lights off each night. While awake make sure all lights are plugged into a ground-fault circuit interrupter protected receptacle.

o DON’T use power cords (or electric blankets and such) that have signs of deterioration, exposed wires or fraying.

o DON’T leave candles burning when you are out of the home or not hanging out in a room.

o DON’T place your Christmas tree near a heat source.

Stay safe and happy holidays!
